Will Sass

Next Dance Radio Avatar

It’s an early morning at Miami Music Week, and joining Mike Marquez and Robert Kechter on Next Dance Radio is rising DJ and producer Will Sass—though he might still be craving that bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. Fresh off the release of his debut EP, Will has quickly made waves with his track Into the Blue, which climbed to number four on dance radio and is already in heavy rotation here at Next. For a new artist, that kind of success this early on is rare, and it’s giving him the motivation to keep pushing forward. From his New York roots to shows at venues like Avant Gardner and Brooklyn Mirage, and now with his next single Happiness on the way, Will Sass is proving he’s one to watch.

Mike Marquez:

Alright, Mike Marquez and Robert Kechter, here on Next Dance Radio, and we are also joined by Will Sass, who has a craving right now for a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. my goodness, what’s going on brother? How’s everything? (This was an early morning interview)

Will Sass:

Everything’s great. I released my first EP, and my second track, “Into the Blue” got picked up on radio. We’re now number four on dance radio.

Robert Kechter:

It’s of heavy rotation with us right now.

Will Sass:

Yeah, and thank you.

Robert Kechter:

That’s what we do here at Next Dance Radio, we bust balls and break records.

Will Sass:

You know when you do that for a new artist it means like so much more than you know because it’s honestly like so hard to like to be a new artist and like to have success like that early on days like just gives me the motivation to keep going.

Robert Kechter:

You know, and I’m happy to hear that because we take philosophy like for instance right now Lady Gaga has a new song out and it is a good song. You’ll never hear it on Next. Not because we don’t like Lady Gaga it is because Lady Gaga does not need us. We look for and make that space for a Will Sass and put that new artist and song out there.

Mike Marquez:

We want the next evolution.

Will Sass:

That’s where we go. What’s crazy is like outside of radio like the collaborations it’s now getting me for my next EP, the shows it’s getting me all around it’s you guys like have a real impact. I appreciate you guys a lot.

Robert Kechter:

Thank you, we are trying to make a difference.

Mike Marquez:

Let’s pivot from that, you said you’re touring now. Where have you been playing?

Will Sass:

I live in New York, I’m born and raised in New York, so I try to do as many shows there.

Mike Marquez:

As am I. As am I. Love that. Where in New York are you playing right now?

Will Sass:

My next one is Superior Ingredients on April 5th. And my next track comes out April 4th, so that’s like perfect timing.

Mike Marquez:

Perfect timing. So, all my New Yorkers out there that are listening, make sure you are out there and supporting our brother here. Superior ingredients. I’ll be there. Oh yeah. Sure. So that’s going to be dope. Where else? Just stay in local New York right now.

Will Sass:

Like Avant Garner and Brooklyn Mirage, they’ve been really kind to me.  There just occasionally, offer me a cool show.  Which is, I always get excited when I see that coming.

Mike Marquez:

Is there someone that you really wish you could go play with or like a goal that you want to go to? Is there a goal?

Will Sass:

I want to do more here in Miami for sure. Next year when I come back, I’m hopefully doing a lot here.  Just everywhere really.

Robert Kechter:

What’s the next record coming out?

Will Sass:

The next record is “Happiness” with Camille

Robert Kechter:

Alright, I love the title, very positive.

Will Sass:

Thank you, I love working with Camille. She did “Into the Blue” with me. Now she’s on “Happiness”. But she’s a double Grammy winning songwriter. She’s been on the Fredaget record, SG Lewis, but she doesn’t really do, she hasn’t in the past done a lot of electronic stuff. And when I sent her the record… She was like, don’t usually do stuff like this, but I like it. Like for Into the Blue. We got in the room together and I played the chords to “Happiness” and she sang I Just Want Happiness in My Life.

Mike Marquez:

Now if someone’s never heard you, describe your song for our audience.

Will Sass:

I would just say warm electronic music that makes you feel good that’s got a good tempo to it and a nice groove and powerful lyrics.

Robert Kechter:

There you go. All right, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so much. Well, my brother. Thank you
