Hugel

Next Dance Radio Avatar

Live from Miami Music Week, Mike Marquez and Robert Kechter of Next Dance Radio are joined by one of the most exciting forces in electronic dance music—DJ and producer Hugel. Known for his trendsetting sound that blends Mediterranean, Latin, and global influences, Hugel has carved out a unique place in the scene. From his breakout hit I Adore You to brand-new releases like Losen Up and an upcoming collaboration with David Guetta and Kehlani, Hugel continues to bring fresh energy to dance floors worldwide. Confident, fun, and unapologetically original, he walks in like he owns the room—and in many ways, he does.

Mike Marquez:

All right, Mike Marquez is here with Robert Kechter, and we are joining now, with DJ / Producer Hugel. I love this, you walk in and act like you own the room.

Robert Kechter:

Right out of the gate. This is a powerful and attractive man. Right out of the gate.

Hugel:

I don’t think I’m acting.

Mike Marquez:

No, not acting. You have it. You have this, right?  People can’t see this because it’s obviously radio, But I want you to describe to the listeners what makes you or what makes you, right? Because someone that’s never heard your music, someone that’s never heard anything about you, what describes you? Because I want them to get it from you, what you’re about.

Hugel:

What makes me, me? I think it’s the fact that I’m loving what I’m doing. I love what I’m doing and the fact that I love what I do, I create music that is different than what is on the market in the DJ scene right now. And I think that’s the best way to be unique. It’s when you really love what you do, and you do it your way.

Mike Marquez:

I love that. That’s why I set that up. Because you are, you’re a trendsetter. You’re doing things completely differently, and you have that like, yeah, I know I’m doing, when someone does something different, when they’re a trendsetter, they walk a different type of way. Because they know they’re going against the grain, and they love it. And you do that with your music. What music do you have right now so that people can go and check out?

Hugel:

Well, I have my song I Adore You that’s been like probably one of the biggest hits of the year in the electronic dance music. And I have this brand-new song (Out Now “Losen Up” and I hope this month or next month’s collaboration with David Guetta and Kehlani is singing on it. Also Dale Combe, the singer of I Adore You.  So, I’m very excited for this new collaboration come out for the summer.

Robert Kechter:

Well, it sounds like we have a banger on our hands coming up. We will be supporting our side because that’s what do we do. That’s what we do. Dance Music lives here on Next Dance Radio.

Mike Marquez:

I personally just love what you do because I love the sound that you have. Really, I don’t want to go too deep into it, but how did you create that, like, your sound? Like, how did you find that, that signal? Because you must get a little signature sound to what you’re doing.

Hugel:

So, I grew up in Marseille in South France, which is one of the oldest cities in Europe, most dangerous city as well in Europe. So, it’s like one of the oldest ports. It always has been like a pirate’s marginal city. So, we have multiple influences from the Mediterranean Sea. We have the Arabs, the Corsicans, the Italians, the Gypsies, Spanish, all of that. And the fact that I grew up there. I got all those influences in my music and that’s why I got a lot of African drums, drums, gypsies, Spanish melodies, Arabic melodies. I got lucky a little bit because I arrived with that song in the US. There’s of course a lot of Latinos, the big community in America, that felt represented with that music because of lot of Latin influences. I got lucky and it blew up here in America.

Mike Marquez:

Do you have any more ambitions, have any more goals of things you want to do, especially here in America?

Hugel:

Yeah, I just want to keep doing what I love, touring with my friends, having fun, doing bigger and bigger shows, bigger venues. Just having fun, it’s all about that, life is about having fun, isn’t it?

Robert Kechter:

And you were born ready to have fun!

Hugel:

Exactly. That’s the first question you asked me when I arrived. You said, “Are you ready to have fun?”  I was like, I was born ready just for that.

Mike Marquez:

I love it. I love it. If anybody out there wants to get in touch with you, how can they do that?

Hugel:

Wow, you can find me everywhere. Hugel, H-U-G-E-L on all social media, YouTube, Spotify, everywhere.

Mike Marquez:

Hugle:
