At Next Dance Radio, where dance music lives, we’re excited to sit down with an artist we’ve supported since the very beginning—Arty. Known for his signature progressive house sound, Arty has been a staple of the global dance scene since 2009, consistently delivering high-quality tracks that fans and DJs alike can trust. From his early inspirations in Eric Prydz and Deadmau5 to his latest collaboration with Audien, One More Thing, released during Miami Music Week, Arty continues to prove why he’s one of the most respected and forward-thinking producers in electronic music today. Despite the jet lag, he’s bringing energy, honesty, and insight to our conversation.
Robert Kechter:
I’m Robert Kechter and I am here with Mike Marquez for Next Dance Music Radio, where dance music lives. Right now, this is a guy that I really am excited to sit down and talk with. We’ve been a strong supporter here at Next Dance Radio. We’ve supported him right out of the gate, and now here we are with none other than Artie. And I just found out something that blew my mind. But we’ll come back to that a little later. How’s it going today?
Arty:
I appreciate the support, and I am doing pretty good.
Robert Kechter:
How’s it going today, did you get some sleep?
Arty:
Yeah, a little bit, as we were talking about before, people talking about 12-hour difference jet lag is terrible, but that three-hour difference between LA & Miami is the real beast. So, I was trying to sleep last night, and I don’t know like We didn’t party, and I was home like I was back in a hotel very early and I couldn’t sleep till like 6 in the morning
Robert Kechter:
And you know, I woke up like nine o’clock this morning, and hat’s six o’clock back at home in LA. It’s like, I don’t get up that early at home. I get up around nine o’clock. I don’t get up before nine when I’m in LA.
Mike Marquez:
So, I do want to ask Artie a question. Besides the time difference, how has been Miami so far?
Arty:
Pretty good, I got in around four pm, checked in, and headed over to check out Audien, who was playing in Wynwood. He was playing his Progressive House Never Died show. I went on the stage, and we performed our new track that just came out literally today, it called “One More Thing” and we played it for the first time, and that was it for me, I was like I don’t even have to play this show now. (Laughing)
Mike Marquez:
So, for people that are unfamiliar with you, I mean people should not be unfamiliar with you, but let’s say, new people come to see your show, describe your sound, what Artie’s all about.
Robert Kechter:
Before we jump in. Arty and Audien, who just released a new collaboration together, and this is what’s unique and what it’s exciting is because Artie and Audien have been basically parallel coming up the ranks and moving up via DJ production. They are both dynamite producers. It’s nothing but quality music and it’s all current and contemporary.
So, when I get a new song from Arty, it’s like, okay, I can literally just add it, not even listening to it, because I already know that quality. Our listeners know that quality because it’s a regular into our rotation. So, the fact of the matter is now these two new, let’s call it young guns, and the future of what the next phase is coming into play. And you heard it here first from me, because I am that guy high on top of the thing in this world, in the dance world. This is exciting, because now it’s like these two great young artists are coming together and going hard.
Arty:
Well, it’s not our first time. Not our first radio record, but yeah. I agree. I agree.
Robert Kechter:
It’s clearly a very important time, and I mean that in the most complimentary form as well to you. I think we’re going to have Audian join us later today.
Arty:
No, no, thank you. But I think Audian is not going to be joining you today. He’s back in LA and he’s playing beyond the Wonderland Festival. So, he flew out very early in the morning.
Mike Marquez:
Wow he knows more about what’s going on than you do. How’s that happen?
Arty:
I was talking to him last night for like an hour. I know all about his stuff.
Mike Marquez:
Nice. So, I was going to ask before, like to describe your sound to someone that hasn’t heard it before. We support it here at Next and like Robert said, it moves, like people enjoy it. But what I want is I want someone that doesn’t normally get an opportunity to hear from you. They might hear the music, but I want them to hear it directly from the source. What’s Artie about?
Arty:
Well, to put it simply, it’s dance music. If you want to, it’s like dance music that leaning towards leaning towards a US dance sound, right? That’s just a simple explanation. But I’ve been doing music since 2009, and I went through all sorts of genres; I try pretty much to do everything. I also have a side project that is completely different for me as well, but it’s progressive house, in a nutshell, honestly, and it’s all sorts of iterations of progressive house that people love.
X-File and Deadmau and Eric Prydz have had a huge inspiration. They’ve been an inspiration for me for many, many years. ⁓ That’s what I fell in love with in the first place when I started listening to dance music. And I’m trying to implement into my production up until now, pretty much. Still, you know, I like going rounds trying something new and then as I go back to basics and like what you started with. I’m in this phase right now and I’m back making my old school progressive house sound now.
Mike Marquez:
Now, if there was one song that you wanted to tell people to listen to, what’s the song?
Arty:
Of course, my collaboration with Audian “One More Thing” yeah, I mean because it’s out now it’s right there
Robert Kechter:
And this is your jam…
